Furnicology's own Susanna Mediola conducted the following interview with Spring Home's Lucas Helfond.

Spring specializes in green products for a healthy home. We aim to reduce exposure to chemicals, toxins, and pollutants, for the benefit of your personal health, and the environment. Spring is for those who wish to manage their home in a greener, safer, and healthier way.  Read more about Spring Home in this interview.

Mediola: What is Spring Home?

Helfond: Spring is a healthy home retailer. We sell green products for a healthy home.

Mediola: What is your background? How are you involved with Spring?

Helfond: The story of how I started it is here http://www.springhome.com/about-us.

Mediola: What inspires you? Where do you go to find inspiration?

Helfond: My family. They keep me focused, inspire me, and protecting my kids' health keeps me motivated.

Mediola: Do you have any easy tips to share?

Helfond: Open your windows, it will help clean your air, by diluting the toxins and pollutants in your air.

Mediola: What is the most popular product at your store?

Helfond: [The url is] http://www.springhome.com/Foaming+Handwash++|+Grapefruit+Bergamot-p-834.html

Mediola: What is a favorite product that maybe hasn't gotten enough attention?

Helfond: Tammy Fender (http://www.springhome.com/TAMMY+FENDER-c-179.html).  Possibly the line has gotten enough attention, but maybe the price has  scared people off. But it is, without doubt, the finest skin care line I have come across.

Mediola: What kind of products can I use to care for my sustainable furniture?

Helfond: We have stain removers and wood polishes. Anything we carry will keep your furniture clean and sustainable.

Mediola: I need a new mattress, what is good to know about the natural mattresses you sell?

Helfond: Royal Pedic's compete with the finest mattresses on the market, but do not have any chemicals, flame retardants, etc. The toxins in your mattress don't only impact your health, they disrupt your sleep. Since you spend a third of your life in bed, there is no more important investment than a good, organic mattress. You will sleep better, have better health, and pay only cents per day.

Mediola: What do you see going forward in 2009-2010 for Spring Home?

Helfond: A better economy and better offerings. But we are hoping to bring in a furniture line or two.
